I can now confirm that the new exciting project I am currently working on is an outdoor sound installation at Clifton Country Park. Of particular interest to me is the Wet Earth Colliery which is situated in the park. There is a vast amount of history that is associated with the colliery and I hope to explore some of this with the project. The installation will take place as part of a celebration of the Colliery on Sunday 27th September 2009. It is a free event and all are welcome!

EXPO LEEDS – Presented by Sound And Music and MAAP
9 July 2009Just had some confirmation today that Sound Journeys has made the shortlist for the Expo festival that will be held in Leeds this September. Fingers crossed it will be selected.
Watch this space for more info about where and when.
“Expo is the hub and playground of the experimental music and sound art scene in the UK and beyond. Free and open, the event mobilises a national network of artists and engages with communities from all backgrounds – placing sonic art and the people who make it in direct contact with the public. Expo steps out from traditional venues and into spaces that lie at the heart of the community – inspiring practitioners and the public to reconsider their environments.”
Lisbon is fast approaching…
5 July 2009With the Silent Voices: Forbidden Lives FIRT-IFTR 2009 conference fast approaching Helen and I have been in the studio recording and documenting our project – Dreaming the Silence. A sample of the project can be heard below. The piece experiments with various tones taken from different sized wine glasses when they were half full with water. The sounds produced have been fused together to attempt to produce the sounds of tinnitus – a persistent problem Helen knows all about.

New Project: New Location
25 June 2009I am very excited about the potential of my next project which will hopefully take place in a very interesting space outdoors…
I am sure there will be many challenges along the way but hopefully it will be fun to explore installation work in the great outdoors.
